In India new moms are subjected to a prescribed food items to help them recover from postpartum changes and weakness. One of such yummy recipe is “Panjiri” which I also had in my childhood as well as after my own delivery. It is very popular in especially in North India and made in winter season every year in most of the households. It provide nutrition, strength with different types of nuts, dry fruits, ghee and warmth to the body with its most important ingredient i.e. sonth (dry ginger). When it is made for new mothers some extra ingredients are added like Gond Katira (Tragacanth Gum), Kamarkas (Butea Frondosa) which are extremely beneficial to relive body-aches and to strengthen muscles. I suggest all new-mom should have it after delivery.
